Hughes Subsea, a subsidiary of OEG Energy, appoints Ian Hughes as Chief Operating Officer and Mike Bailey as its New Managing Director

OEG Energy Group Limited (“OEG”, the “Group”), a leading offshore solutions business, announces a restructuring of its management team at its wholly owned subsidiary Hughes Subsea to pursue its ambitious growth strategy. Ian Hughes, the current Managing Director (“MD”) of Hughes Subsea will become Chief Operating Officer (“COO”), and Mike Bailey will join the business as its new MD.


This new leadership structure positions Hughes Subsea for growth in its provision of integrated subsea services to the offshore energy, telecommunications, power generation and marine civil engineering sectors. OEG Energy acquired Hughes Subsea in 2021 to increase OEG’s service proposition and expand the global reach for specialist subsea services into new markets.


Ian Hughes, the previous MD who will become the COO, has over 30 years’ experience in the provision of subsea diving and specialist technical services. Ian founded Hughes Subsea in 2019, building a business with a solid reputation within the industry for delivering added value in the form of safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions utilising innovative subsea techniques.


Mike Bailey, who joins the business to become the MD, has over 33 years of experience in the offshore energy sector. He was most recently, the Asset and Operations Director for James Fisher Subtech and has held senior roles with companies Stolt, Acergy and DeepOcean in the oil and gas and offshore wind sector. Mike began his career as a diver and saturation diver, progressing to supervisory and offshore management positions.
